HUGE TEXT - In-depth analysis of Brazil's squad for the World Cup and what to expect from our four brazilians.

In-depth analysis of Brazil squad for the World Cup and what to expect from our four brazilians.
So! Today Scolari announced who will be in the Brazil's squad for the world cup, and FOUR of our beloved players are on the list. I thought it'd be nice to share some of my opinions of the team, since I'm one of the few true brazilians here in the /chelseafc/. I thought about posting this in /socce, but I don't like there. It seems that you guys liked my previous posts talking about how brazilians see our team, players and the Seleção. I'll also share some statistics.
Position - Name - Age (Team - League)
GK - Julio Cesar - 34 (Toronto FC - MLS)
Number of times in the Seleção: 116 Number of times he actually played: 78 Goals conceded: 56 World Cups: 2006/2010
Probably our main goalkeeper. Old, far from being a unanimous choice, but he has experience in World Cups and the confidence of our coach. IMHO he is the worst of the three options. Also, he looks like...
GK - Jefferson - 31 (Botafogo FR - Campeonato Brasileiro)
Number of times in the Seleção: 43 Number of times he actually played: 9 Goals conceded: 4 World Cups: None
Great GK but very underrated. Very consistent, with just little flaws, experienced and cold as ice, mentally strong like a rock.
GK - Victor - 31 (Atlético MG - Campeonato Brasileiro)
Number of times in the Seleção: 29 Number of times he actually played: 6 Goals conceded: 1 World Cups: None
In Brazil we call him "Hands of Lettuce". Think about it. Not an amazing GK, but still a good one. I would call Diego Alves instead, and he would be my main GK.
RB - Daniel Alves - 31 (FC Barcelona - Liga BBVA)
Number of times in the Seleção: 97 Number of times he actually played: 74 Number of goals: 5 World Cups: 2010
Don't like him very much, but we don't have a better choice. Brazil is lacking RBs at the moment.
RB - Maicon - 32 (AS Roma - Serie A)
Number of times in the Seleção: 89 Number of times he actually played: 66 Number of goals: 6 World Cups: 2010
Worst than Dani Alves ATM. God, I miss those years when Maicon was in a good shape. He gave his blood to the Seleção so many times that it is impossible to not like him.
CB - Thiago Silva - 29 (PSG - Ligue 1)
Number of times in the Seleção: 63 Number of times in the Seleção: 45 Number of goals: 2 World Cups: 2010
He is a beast. Amazing overall. Strong, fast and makes no mistakes. A true tower of strenght.
CB - David Luiz - 27 - (BLUES! - Premier League)
Number of times in the Seleção: 48 Number of times he actually played: 34 Number of goals: None World Cups: None
Our beloved Luiz. Dante is in a great season, But Luiz will be in the starting line-up for the majority of the matches. He is just better, and IMO he plays even better in the Seleção than he plays in Chelsea. Don't know exactly why, maybe because of his childhood dream of playing for the Seleção. He makes a lot less mistakes when plays with the brazilian uniform. I love him. I wish he was my older brother. hahaha
CB - Dante - 30 (FC Bayern - Bundesliga)
Number of times in the Seleção: 18 Number of times he actually played: 11 Number of goals: 2 World Cups: None
He is doing good so far in this season, but still can't take Luiz's place on the team. He can play some group phase matches if Luiz needs to rest.
CB - Henrique - 27 (Napoli - Serie A)
Number of times in the Seleção: 10 Number of times he actually played: 4 Number of goals: None World Cups: None
This is a joke. When asked why he chose Henrique, Felipão said "I trust him". Biased, purely personal choice. Miranda (Atlético Madrid) would be a far better choice here.
LB - Marcelo - 25 (Real Madrid - Liga BBVA)
Number of times in the Seleção: 47 Number of times he actually played: 30 Number of goals: 4 World Cups: None
Yes, he is a good LB, but I don't think he defends nor attacks well enough. Also, years ago he chose to play for Real Madrid and not for the Seleção, so I question his commitment with the Seleção. Also, we had so many good LBs that Marcelo looks almost like a bad one. Roberto Carlos, Nilton Santos, Junior...
LB - Maxwell - 32 (PSG - Ligue 1)
Number of times in the Seleção: 8 Number of times he actually played: 7 Number of goals: None World Cups: None
Too old and not good enough to be here. I'd choose Filipe Luís (Atlético) instead of him, no doubt about that. When asked why not Filipe Luís, Felipão said "I have to pick only 23 names". Not a good answer at all.
DM - Luiz Gustavo - 26 (Worfsburg - Bundesliga)
Number of times in the Seleção: 23 Number of times he actually played: 17 Number of goals: 1 World Cups: None
Since I don't really follow Wolfsburg, I can't say how well he is doing this season. What I can say is: He plays consistently in the Seleção, makes almost no mistakes and covers the defense well enough so Ramires can run forward like a fucking tiger.
DM/CM - Paulinho - 25 (Spurs - Premier League)
Number of times in the Seleção: 30 Number of times he actually played: 25 Number of goals: 5 World Cups: None
Paulinho is one of the best defensive midfielders that I've seen in my entire life. Spurs don't know how to use him, and currently he isn't playing that much. It's sad to see this much talent being wasted like that. Back in 2012-13, he played for Corinthians, led the team to an amazing Libertadores title and, I think you guys remember, he also won the FIFA Club World Cup with them, beating Chelsea at the final (unfortunately). This is not a biased opinion, because I hate Corinthians.
DM/CM - Fernandinho - 29 (Manchester City - Premier League)
Number of times in the Seleção: 10 Number of times he actually played: 6 Number of goals: 1 World Cups: None
This is a tough one. I don't like him, but I also don't hate him. I just think Lucas (Liverpool) would be a better choice.
DM/CM - Ramires - 27 (BLUES! - Premier League)
Number of times in the Seleção: 50 Number of times he actually played: 41 Number of goals: 4 World Cups: 2010
Ramires plays really well in the Seleção. Here he has the freedom that he needs to run non stop the entire match, and no one knows how the hell he can run that much for 90 minutes and not be phisically destroyed for the next 15 days.
CM/CAM - Hernanes - 28 (Inter Milan - Serie A)
Number of times in the Seleção: 30 Number of times he actually played: 23 Number of goals: 2 World Cups: None
Hernanes plays where Ramires plays, but he is more of a playmaker than Rami. He can make a lot more good passes, but he can't run like Rami. Also, he is really a shortfuse. You never know when he will kick someone in the chest and get a red card.
RM/RW - Willian - 25 (BLUES! - Premier League)
Number of times in the Seleção: 5 Number of times he actually played: 5 Number of goals: 1 World Cups: None
Willian really deserves a spot here. He is playing great for both Chelsea and Seleção. For Brazil he plays like a RW, in the opposite side of Neymar. He constantly switches place with Oscar, tho. That way he creates rotations, trying to confuse the defenders.
CAM - Oscar - 22 (BLUES! - Premier League)
Number of times in the Seleção: 32 Number of times he actually played: 29 Number of goals: 9 World Cups: None
Oscar gives his heart to the Seleção. He creates a lot more opportunities because here he can switch positions with both Neymar and Willian/Hulk, creating empty spaces on the opponent's defense. He is really our playmaker, our brain. I can't imagine the Seleção without him. Not anymore.
CAM/LW - Bernard - 21 (Shakhtar - Ukranian Premier League)
Number of times in the Seleção: 18 Number of times he actually played: 10 Number of goals: 1 World Cups: None
He is a Oscar with less playmaking skills and more attacking potential. He usually change place with Neymar only, going to LW while Neymar tries to infiltrate the penalty area. He is really creative, and has potential to be one of the greatest at his position. Also, he plays with his heart. Always gives 100%, even when he is reading his farewell letter.
LW/ST - Neymar - 22 (FC Barcelona - Liga BBVA)
Number of times in the Seleção: 48 Number of times he actually played: 47 Number of goals: 30 World Cups: None
Our star player. Skillful, fast and talented. Has a future to build, but is not in a great shape in the last couple of months. He would be better if he stop with the fucking diving.
RW/ST - Hulk - 27 (Zenit - Russian Premier League)
Number of times in the Seleção: 37 Number of times he actually played: 33 Number of goals: 8 World Cups: None
This guy lives up to his name. He is fast and strong, and can pass through defenders using only his body. He also frequently scores from outside the box. He's a good choice when Willian needs a rest. Also, he may be the solution when the team is unable to penetrate the defensive line.
CF/ST - Fred - 30 (Fluminense - Campeonato Brasileiro)
Number of times in the Seleção: 44 Number of times he actually played: 32 Number of goals: 16 World Cups: 2006
A true case of both love and hate. Half of the people here hates him (me included), because he gets injured at least one time every month. The problem is: He is the only striker that has the killer instinct that a good team needs. We're lacking CFs. Our last good CF, Adriano "The Imperator", don't want to play football any more. If we had the choice to pick Diego Costa, we would not even think about Fred. Brazil deserves someone better than Fred. We had Romário, Ronaldo, PeléTostãoBebetoEdmundo... The list goes on infinitely. Fred is NOTHING compared to them.
ST/CF - - 27 (Atlético MG - Campeonato Brasileiro)
Number of times in the Seleção: 20 Number of times he actually played: 15 Number of goals: 5 World Cups: None
Another proof that we're lacking good strikers. Now I'm feeling ashamed.
What to expect of this team: We are one of the favorites indeed, but I see Germany doing better. I also believe that Argentina and Uruguay will have great performances. Eyes on them.
Predicted Line-up:
GK - Julio Cesar RB - Daniel Alves CB - Thiago Silva (C) CB - David Luiz/Dante LB - Marcelo DM - Luiz Gustavo/Paulinho DM/CM - Ramires/Hernanes CAM - Oscar/Bernard LW - Neymar RW - Willian/Hulk CF - Fred
If you read all of this, what the hell are you doing with your life, dude?
